This week I was looking for a “simple” recipe to cook and after a Google search I came up with some easy looking nachos. I got this recipe from a website called “Love from the Oven.” They gave me a simple list of what I would need, and they even had different options in case I didn’t like something on the list. They also provided an easy-to-understand, step-by-step guide on how to prepare everything.

The grocery shopping part of the recipe was easy, as everything was put into a handy list on the website. I actually knew what everything was on the list! No surprises for a pretty inexperienced cook like myself.

The actual preparation for the dish was as simple as the recipe suggests, anyone could do it! All it takes is a cookie sheet covered in tin foil for easy clean up. The only real tedious parts of the entire cooking expedition was cutting the tomatoes in half and shredding the cheese. If I were to do this again I would buy the pre-shredded cheese.

Putting everything together was just as easy as making a sandwich. All I had to do was put a layer of cheese over the tortilla chips then add all the extras I wanted then throw the tray in the oven, which was pre-heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

I chose to keep my nachos pretty simple so I only used Monterey jack cheese, black beans, black olives, tomatoes, and some lettuce (added after cooking). After they came out of the oven I added some sour cream, guacamole that I bought from the store, and some salsa I had already.

The entire experience was pleasant and the entire dish was done from start to finish in about 25 minutes. The cook time in the oven was only ten minutes and the result was an entire cookie sheet worth of nachos which will make a great snack or small lunch to take to school on busy days!
