Update 20 June, 0705: Fire remains at zero percent containment and over 7,000 acres have been consumed. Firefighters have been working very hard to protect structures and, thus far, no structures have been burned.
Just before noon time on June 18, fire dispatch reported a wildfire on Iron Springs Road; it has been named the Doce Fire. That fire has quickly spread causing evacuations near the Granite Basin and Williamson Valley areas. Current estimates place the size of the fire at 5,000 acres and growing. As of the night of June 18, the fire was at zero containment and in close proximity to homes in Williamson Valley. At the present time, the Embry-Riddle campus is not in any immediate danger and all activities are continuing as normal. The campus has also opened its doors as a shelter for students, faculty, staff, and their families who have been evacuated.
