The final Chat with Administration was held on April 18. Dr. Frank Ayers started the meeting by mentioning that Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s staff that had been participating in the Boston Marathon are safe after the bombing and actually completed the marathon running at 6 minutes and 41 seconds a mile. He then continued with several announcements. Prescott now has a full softball team of 11 players. The new courses and majors to be offered next fall are astronomy, software engineering, and cyber security. Preview Day was a huge success. Nearly 600 people attended.
Dr. Ayers also acknowledged and commended the large turn-out to Ethan Sabay’s memorial. He stated that in light of Ethan’s and others’ fatalities, departments around campus will be working to promote safer actions and decisions within the student body. He encouraged any students interested in aiding with the effort to contact Josh Bailey.
The microphone was then handed to the SGA. On the spot SGA passed a motion to give 500 dollars to the fraternities Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Tau Gamma, and Alpha Sigma Tau. They then announced that motorcycle helmet lockers had been installed near the ROTC buildings and are ready to be used.
Then the floor was opened for questions from those attending. During this time the new, reusable take-out boxes at Sodexo were presented and explained. An announcement was made that there will be boxes in the laundry rooms for students to leave shoes, clothes, and electronics when they move out. This will allow for re-use of the items. RHA stated that they are looking for responses to a survey about improvements to the Village lounges. And finally the Parking Committee stated that the old basketball courts are being considered for expanded parking. It was a short chat but there were many notifications.
